My reason why ...

There are several reasons why I have decided to run for a seat on the Osborn Schools Governing Board. First and foremost, I am a mother to children who attend school within the Osborn School District. Secondly, I have a background in public health and understand the importance of supporting schools as a determinant of health. An investment in the school district and in our surrounding community means our children have better health outcomes.

About Me

I have been a stay-at-home mom for the past 2.5 years, stepping away from the workforce when my youngest daughter was 6 months old. I’ve been able to be a present parent on campus — regularly volunteering in the classroom, attending field trips, participating in school meetings, and attending district meetings and events. Through this type of engagement, I’ve been able to learn about a variety of campus needs, district challenges, and share stories with parents and staff about the success and challenges on each campus.

Prior to being a stay-at-home mom, I worked at the Arizona Department of Health Services. In my role there, I served as the Director of Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs, where I managed the statewide contracts and partners, including funding allocated to children and youth with special healthcare needs across the state of Arizona. I was able to collaborate with partners, create yearly goals, share ideas, and learn national best practices to support a group of kids who are often left behind.

Prior to my time at the state, I worked as the director for a nonprofit that served as a community resource in South Central Phoenix. There I created workshops and partnered with other local agencies to bring resources to communities struggling to make ends meet. I facilitated needs assessments, reported programs to federal funders, and adjusted our programs based on data we collected.

I graduated from Northern Arizona University with my Bachelor's of Science in Public Health and understand the many layers that exist to ensure communities are healthy and thriving, including enriching and engaging schools in the community.

I also am a product of public schools, graduating from Central High School and attending our very own Osborn Middle School for 7th and 8th grades. I believe in the Osborn School District, the students, the staff, and the community.
